YMCA OF LANSING

Child Care

YMCAs are the nation’s largest provider of child care. We provide high-quality and affordable programs that are family-centered and values-based to nurture children’s healthy development. Our preschool and school-age child care programs encourage family involvement through special events, newsletters, parent advisory committees, and volunteers in the classrooms. The programs are state licensed, and all staff meet or exceed licensing regulations for background checks, education and experience. Whether your child needs preschool or school-age care, we emphasize values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We follow a play-based, Creative Curriculum. Like all Y programs, child care is open to all, with financial assistance available.

Child Development Center (6 weeks to 5 years old)

YMCA Child Care Center provides a safe, secure place where children learn and grow socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. We work to provide a caring, qualified staff, a stimulating child centered environment and a wide range of activities designed to meet the developmental needs and interests of young children we work to create a unique program for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. We provide breakfast, lunch and snack according to federal nutritional food program standards.

The Center is open year round, 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.

The best way for you to discover what YMCA Child Care Center has to offer is to schedule a tour between the hours of 9:30am and 5:30pm. This will give you the opportunity to have a personal tour of the center, to observe classroom activities, meet the teachers and discuss your questions and enrollment needs with the Child Care Director directly.

Onsite Tot Watch

While exercising at the Y, parents can leave their child at our onsite Tot Watch center. Under the supervision and guidance of YMCA staff, your child can socialize with other children and take part in fun, age-appropriate activities like arts and crafts, story and music time, outdoor play and much more. Our Tot Watch staff is certified in First Aid and CPR and hired for their enthusiasm and wonderful ability to interact with children. Tot Watch is available for YMCA facility members only.

Y Preschool Programs (2½ – 5 yrs.)

YMCA Preschool programs offer a wonderful place where your child can learn and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. The programs are operated on an experiential learning philosophy—children learn by doing. The theme-based curriculum includes skill building for kindergarten readiness through a literacy-based circle time, arts, dramatic play, math concepts, building blocks, manipulatives, games, and physical play. The children also learn positive social skills and can participate in additional enrichment activities.
